MATERIAL SELECTION FOR KNIFE COATING
AIR, ROLLER, BLANKET
MATERIAL SELECTION FOR KNIFE COATING
Carbon Steel
- Hardened and tempered to provide durability
- Corrosion could be a problem with some mediums, though relevant to length of coat run and blade wipe down
- Gauges to 2mm. Thicker available though structure/durability may vary
- Backing/support blade may be required
Stainless Steel 400
- Hardened and tempered to provide durability
- Corrosion resistant
- Gauges to 1mm. Thicker gauges possible, subject to availability
- Stainless Steel 300 may be available - just ask
Note: Heavy duty or thick blades are sometimes employed (e,g, J Blade, Shoe Blade) to assist in delivering a continuous film to the web surface. Although we do not make this kind of blade, in some instances a thinner guage blade will perform satisfactorily, particularly with improved rigidity by use of a backing/support blade. Please contact us for advice.
EDGE SELECTION FOR KNIFE COATING
There are many factors to edge selection and here it will be better to refer.
Edge finishes available are:
